Hot Water Pressure Washer

Hot Water Pressure Washer
Hot Water Pressure Washer
A Hot Water Pressure Washer is a big plus for any type of pressure washer jobs. The hot water, when using a pressure washer, makes all the difference in the world. Some of the pressure washing jobs can not be done without the use of having hot water. Think of your dishwasher, would you want your dishes to be washed in cold water? They are a few more dollars than the cold water machines. And there are different types of hot water burners.
First lets talk about the advantages of using a hot water pressure washer and the type of jobs it is needed for.
  1. Gum removal- gum will not come off without heat. You can take it off with pressure but you will be left with a little ring from the gum. Only hot water will remove this. Just be careful with the pressure if the gum is on a soft surface, let the heat melt it off.
  2. Graffiti removal- This is one job that you need the hot water pressure washer to make your life so much easier. Especially when there are multiple layers of paint. You will need to use a graffiti remover, but the hot water helps melt the paint away.
  3. Any type of degreasing job. Helps cut the grease.
  4. Promotes the cleaning capabilities of the cleaning products being used.
Those are just a few examples, there are many more, but these few give you an idea of the uses and purposes of using a pressure washer with hot water. I do have a Deck Cleaning and house washing tips on clean vinyl siding article to.

Types of Hot Water Pressure Washer

I will be talking about the types of hot water pressure washers heater units and not really about the pressure washer itself. That is a whole other article on its own.
The hot water heater is refered to as a burner. There are two types of burners that can be mounted in various ways and run on different types of power to run it.
The two type are:
  • Horizontal -laying down end to end.
  • Vertical- standing upright.
The  pro's and con's of each are:
  • Horizontal- Standing the burner unit up saves a lot of space and disperses the heat a more evenly throughout the coil. The only thing that I do not like with the burner standing up is that any debris or water fall down on to the blower unit.
  • Vertical- Less problems with the blower motor. Easier to work on. The only thing is that the heater coil gets a little clogged up with soot on the bottom of the side that is facing down.
Most hot water pressure washers have the burner that is mounted all together as one unit. These kind of units are pretty heavy as the coil can weigh as much as seven hundred pounds. They mostly run off of diesel or home heating fuel. I have seen propane heating units to. But I like the diesel fired units as they are a lot less dangerous to work with. Also make sure the there is a heat shield between the hot water burner unit and the fuel tanks.

How the Water Gets Hot

Just a quick overview on how the hot water pressure washer get hot water. The blower unit consists of a blower motor with whats called a squirrel cage, which the motor spins and creates a strong wind that blows the air by the igniter unit. The igniter unit has a fuel injector which sprays a high pressure mist that is pressurized from a small fuel pump connected to the blower motor. A few inches from the injector are two electrodes that create a spark, like a spark plug does, but a lot stronger spark. This spark ignites the high pressure fuel creating a pretty good size fireball, which blows against a coil that the washer water goes through. This is all contained inside the burner unit housing made out of sheet metal. Always make sure that a pressure relief valve is attached on the outlet side to prevent explosions from burner running and no water going through coil.BBB

Deck Cleaning

Deck Cleaning Before And After
Deck Cleaning Before and After
Deck cleaning does not have to be an impossible task. The great thing about a simple deck cleaning is that with just a little bit of preventive maintenance, it will keep the deck surface looking fresh and new all of the time and it helps extend the life of the patio for many years to come. Deck cleaning and sealing helps retard mold and mildew from growing on the surface of your patio and creating a very slick surface. Regular deck cleaning decreases the build up of dirt, which acts like sandpaper on the finish, decreasing the length of time between applications of stain. Deck cleaning and sealing  is very effective maintenance program for protecting your wood deck which is very expensive to replace. Periodic deck cleaning of an otherwise worn out looking wood deck can do a lot to bring it back to almost new. Some of the benefits of cleaning your deck are:

  1. Prolongs the life if your deck or patio
  2. A deck cleaning will keep the surface of your deck free of mildew which makes is very slippery to walk on when the deck gets wet.
  3. Keeps the deck or patio looking like new.
  4. Deck cleaning is relatively easy to do yourself or pretty cheap to hire a professional to clean the deck or patio for you.

Patio cleaning is not the hardest prosess if you have the proper tools and cleaning chemical. If you are going to give it a try yourself, make sure you take the time to get the basic understanding of how to use a pressure washer and what type of deck cleaning chemicals to use to clean it. I know that Home Depot has some deck washing products and you can always rent a pressure washer from them to. Also to get an understanding of how to treat the deck after the initial washing. You have to be very careful though because deck cleaning and staining is something that you may be better off hiring a professional. The fact is, cleaning a deck the wrong way can will cause more damage to the surface of the patio that is sometime irreversable leading to having to replace boards and that can become an expensive mistake.

         Deck Cleaning Tips

Deck or patio cleaning is an involved procedure. Hiring a  deck cleaning and sealing professional can be nerve racking and at times, will mislead you. You should always investigate some information about the company and the deck cleaning chemicals they will be using on your deck. You can always check the BBB or Angies List. When you do schedule the deck cleaning project, schedule the work at the cooler hours of the morning or late afternoon or even on a cooler day, as the chemicals may dry before it gets a chance to do its job, when it is applied to a blazing hot patio. Most professional deck cleaning companies that do patio cleaning have some sort of patio maintenance program so that your wood patio will stay looking good all the time and lasts for many years for the life of your patio. Remember that deck cleaning will save your deck in the long run.
House Washing
House Mildew
I do have A Cool Pressure Washing Video that gives you a basic idea of using a pressure washer. If you are a home owner, having your own little pressure washer is great to have around. You can wash sidewalks, fences, pool patios almost anything. Pressure Washers Direct. I found, is the cheapest for the quality pressure washers. They even help you decide what type you will need for what you intend to use it for. They have both electric and gas pressure washing units. Both are good for cleaning your deck or patio.
If you get really enthusiastic, you might even try to clean vinyl siding which I also have an article on. But I also recomend leaving that to a profesional pressure cleaning company. You do not need a lot of pressure to clean a house, its more of water volume to rinse thoroughly.  As with the patio washing, there are a lot of variables, if not more to house washing. If you do decide to give it a go, I strongly recommend reading the House Washing Tips I give. I have been in the pressure washing field for over 25 years and I have washed literally thousands of houses and if done right, your house and patio will look brand new and you will be the envy of your neighbors! I have gotten more work just from the neighbors seeing me cleaning and loved the finished results! But as with patio washing and house washing, Do your deck cleaning homework before you give it a try. Making mistakes such as streaking or fading the color of your siding using the wrong chemical can totally ruin your house.
If you are a home owner and are interested in a House washing Massachusetts or House Washing CT , I do give free estimates by filling out  the free estimate form on the side of my post. or you can E-Mail me with any question on deck cleaning or patio cleaning or house washing and would be glad to help you out with any advice you may need on deck cleaning.

    House Washing Western Ma

    HOUSE WASHING WESTERN MA
If you are wondering about house washing western ma, you are not alone. In western ma there are a few house washing company's that are quite reputable. There are a lot of factors that go into washing a house and I recommend that this is something that you should not try yourself. Damage could be done that are sometimes not fixable, such as using to strong of a chemical that could burn your plants, uneven cleaning which will leave splotch marks noticeable on the siding, and also if not rinsed properly will leave drip marks. In western ma,  I have corrected so many house washings because the home owner decided to go with the cheapest estimate. Some of the questions you should ask is if the house is brushed, if strong chemicals are used, and what is included in the washing. Usually the price is only for the house. Decks, sheds or  sidewalks are add on. Estimates are usually free and some use a spray wax after the cleaning.
Deciding if you do need a house washing can be done by doing a visual inspection. Look for any dirt, oxidation, mold or mildew, especially on the north side that never gets much sun, or behind bushes that are not cut back so not much air flows through and holds the moisture in creating a perfect environment for mildew to grow. As we know, mildew is also a health factor. If you are interested in learning, in depth, about mildew inside & outside your home, and identifying the type of mildew you have or how to kill the mildewClick Here!, this is an awesome e-book that even taught me a few thing about the types of mildew and killing mildew and I've been doing this for thirty years. Science has come a long way.
